Foreign Trade

As we all know, China is a big trading country, but it can not be regarded as a trading power. This situation has led to the fact that the right to speak in multilateral trade is not in our side. In the increasingly frequent trade frictions, it is difficult for us to effectively curb trade protectionism.

In March 16th, the EU's proposal to impose anti-dumping duties on Chinese footwear products once again sounded the alarm for Chinese shoe enterprises. The grim fact tells us that only by changing the mode of foreign trade growth can China's footwear industry go out of a new path of development.

Changing the growth mode of foreign trade is to pform foreign trade from extensive growth to intensive growth.

Extensive growth means that the growth of foreign trade is mainly achieved through the expansion of the quantity of export products. The quality and grades of products are relatively low. In the production process, the traditional resources and cheap labor force are used densely.

The intensive growth mode is based on the continuous improvement of the grade and quality of export products. The export products meet the high level consumer demand in the international market. The purpose is to pursue the higher value-added of export products to achieve the development of export trade and the enhancement of economic efficiency.

Products are mainly based on their own intellectual property rights, core technologies and brands to gain competitive advantage in the international market.

China's footwear export is in a state of extensive growth.

China is the world's largest exporter of shoes. The number of shoes exported every year is huge, but the quality and grades of these shoes are relatively low, their own brands are very few, the proportion of high value-added products is very low, and they are at a disadvantage in the international market competition.

Coupled with the development of footwear industry in other developing countries such as Vietnam in recent years, the export mode of low efficiency and quantity expansion has been faced with severe challenges.

At the same time, the low sales routes of Chinese shoes often lead to the rise of trade protectionism in other countries, thus becoming the object of anti-dumping and trade barriers in some countries.

The international market situation is grim and the state run situation is not optimistic.

In the past two years, the "shortage of migrant workers" erupted in the Guangdong area shows that the export growth mode, which aims at lowering labor prices and sacrificing laborers' benefits in exchange for price advantage, has quickly reached the limit, and the intensive use of cheap labor can not be indefinitely sustained.

At present, China's current resources can not bear the growth mode of foreign trade in pursuit of scale expansion.

On the one hand, the "electricity shortage", "water shortage" and the lack of raw materials are restricting the processing trade and order production of enterprises. On the other hand, the continuous rise of energy prices makes the export cost of enterprises rising and increasing pressure on export enterprises.

All this shows us that without changing the way of trade growth, our enterprises will have no way out.

Changing the mode of trade growth is an effective way for China's footwear industry to shake off its current difficulties.

For shoe enterprises, the most important thing to shift from extensive to intensive growth is to abandon the bad habit of "expanding volume", introduce advanced science and technology and equipment, and improve the quality and added value of products by using new and high technology, and produce high-end products that are suitable for medium and high level consumption.

Only by building our competitive advantage on the basis of technology and brand can our shoe enterprises really get out of the current predicament.
