Located in the west coast of the Straits Economic Zone, Putian, Fujian, is famous for its hometown of Mazu. It has a history of more than 50 years of shoemaking. It has once seen Putian shoe leather's glorious history to the world. It has nearly 3000 shoe factories. It produces all kinds of sports shoes, leather shoes, casual shoes and rubber shoes. Its annual output value is 15 billion yuan, and it develops into more than 100 of the ten largest industrial clusters in Putian.

In 2010, the annual output value of footwear industry in Putian reached 20 billion yuan.

The footwear industry in Putian has developed rapidly to become another large shoe making base in Fujian and even in the whole country.
