Josef Liebhant, then the chairman of the German harness Association, registered a company named Ma SALEWA, which made harness and leather products in order to provide equestrian enthusiasts with quality harnesses. SA means Saddler (making saddle), LE means Leather (Pi Ji), WA means Wares (product). The company moved smoothly to the 1948. After the war, the economy gradually recovered. The US Army ordered a large number of military mats in the direction of SALEWA. In addition to backpacks, SALEWA skiing and ski poles have also been successful in the market and gradually become the main source of income for the company. In 1978, SALEWA launched a light tent to fully expand the production of outdoor functional clothing, including the cooperation with Gore company in designing the functional clothing of the core ore, and the first product to enter the Chinese market. In the following year, SALEWA registered a trademark with eagle as its logo. In 1980, the SALEWA Austria company was established, and its development form was gratifying. In 1994, "half the weight, twice the intensity" became the motto of SALEWA. Designers and engineers are committed to the development and use of new materials (titanium, Powertex, Duratec, Expeansion, wool, Kevlar air cushion) and new technology, which has reduced the weight of some products by 50%, and enhanced their strength and durability.
